JROTC Raiders National Competition (Molena, GA)

Posted In: My Kids

This past weekend, Chloe and I headed out to Molena, Ga with, Herman’s mom and sis to the Gerald Lawson Scouting Base for the 2014 U.S. Army National JROTC Raider Championships.

What a beautifully executed event! There were 5 courses, including a Physical Team Test, Cross Country Rescue, Rope Bridge, 5K Race, the Gauntlet. All equally physically and mentally demanding. It was amazing to see the results of all the hard work that these kids put in. There were life lessons being taught about leadership, teamwork, and camaraderie. If they didn’t feel like family before this week, there certainly do now. They didn’t let anyone fall or fail.

Though Chloe didn’t compete in this competition, I am so glad that we were able to witness her team. It was important for her to support her team. This experience teaches her to be a tough girl who can not only hold her own, but help others reach their potential.

Though we didn’t place in all of the events, we did walk away with 2nd Place for the Cross Country Rescue and 5th Place in the Physical Team Test. Way to go West Creek JROTC Raiders!
